Khao Chae

Songkran is the ideal time to savour the classic favourite traditional Thai summer dish called "Khao Chae". Khao chae (ข้าวแช่) is rice soaked in aromatic iced water (usually scented with rose and jasmine), and served with a variety of side dishes and condiments, to cool you down in the hot and sultry weather. Khao chae is available at many hotels around the city at this time, some of them are:

Novotel Lotus - Coco's Cafe - April 13-15 - Songkran buffet lunch with khao chae and more at 625 Bht.

Holiday Inn Silom - The Brasserie - April 13-15 - Songkran buffet including khao chae and Thai curries at 600 baht for lunch and 700 baht for dinner.

Grand Millennium Sukhumvit - Atelier - A songkran buffet with khao chae at 800 baht for lunch and 1280 baht for dinner - from April 13-15.

Royal Orchid Sheraton - Thara Thong restaurant - April 10-16 - khao chae at 450 baht a set.

Peninsula - Khao chae set at 420 Bht till April 15.

Imperial Tara - Tara coffee shop - Khao chae prepared from the recipe of Dhevaves Palace at 250 baht net per set throughout April. Khao chae is also included in the Asian Delights buffet lunch on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 350 baht net.

Swissotel le Concorde - Fountain Cafe - April 10-17 - Khao chae in international buffet at 380 Bht for lunch and 550 for dinner.

Indra Regent - Botanica - Khao chae is a special monthly dish throughout April at 150 baht per set.
